An unfortunate incident that was witnessed at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday has continued to elicit mixed reaction from, Kenyans online, who have continued to call for urgent measures to be taken.
In the incident, two supporters of Mogadishu FC were seen in the video that has been making rounds stomp on the Kenyan flag, and even desecrating it, following the loss of the match.
The incident that happened on Sunday, the 22nd of September 2025, has continued to cause significant public outrage from not just the general public but also a section of leaders. The incident happened during the match between Kenya Police FC and Mogadishu FC, with the Kenyan team winning 3-1.
Among those that have reacted to the incident is Nairobi Women Rep Hon. Esther Passaris. Speaking through her official x page, on Tuesday, the 23rd of September, the ODM Politician has condemned the incident, and even stated that is goes against the dictates of the Kenyan constitution.
”Section 3 of the National Flag, Emblems and Names Act prohibits the improper use, insult, or desecration of the Kenyan flag, with penalties for offenders,” wrote the vocal female Politician.
While writing to the DCI, the Nairobi Women Rep has asked that the culprits be arrested for abusing the Kenyan flag, which is one of the symbols of National unity. Hon. Esther Passaris has asked the DCI to arrest all those seen desecrating or even misusing the Kenyan flag, which ought to be respected.
”It is unfortunate to see people abuse our Kenyan flag. Blood was shed for this flag to be raised high. I call on the DCI to arrest anyone desecrating or misusing our national flag. Our Kenyan flag must be respected, and any other for that matter,” she added.
