There was a scene of chaos and fear when a police officer started firing shots into the air at the Yatta Police station in Machakos, threatening to kill his colleagues.
The event occurred on Wednesday morning, causing other officers residing in the station to seek shelter for their protection.
According to the eyewitness, the officer discharged his bullets into the sky, exhausting an AK-47 rifle magazine containing 30 rounds.
As reported by the police, the individual involved in the shooting had been tasked with overseeing the cell sentry office and was equipped with an AK-47 rifle.
He approached the homes of two fellow officers while discharging his weapon into the air and made threats to kill one of the wives present before moving on to the other.At that moment, alarmed colleagues were strategizing on how to disarm him, while others cowered in fear of becoming targets.
Authorities stated that no injuries occurred during the incident, which lasted nearly ten minutes.
Once he had emptied his magazine, he was subdued, disarmed and placed in custody.
