A family in Baringo County is gripped with fear after their kin, Vincent Otieno Odhiambo, a local businessman, allegedly disappeared following an arrest by police officers on Sunday evening.
According to his wife, Angela Chesang, Odhiambo was taken by officers believed to be from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Nairobi.
The incident occurred at Odhiambo’s shop in Kabarnet Town, where he was reportedly ordered into a vehicle by plainclothes officers. Witnesses stated that two Subaru cars and a Toyota Land Cruiser escorted him to the DCI offices in Kabarnet before he was later transferred to Muthaiga Police Station in Nairobi.
Before his sudden disappearance, Odhiambo managed to call his wife, asking her to bring his national ID—a request that has since left the family in distress as all attempts to reach him have failed.
Chesang expressed deep concern over her husband’s whereabouts, stating that his two phone lines remain switched off. The motive behind his arrest remains unclear, leaving the family anxious for answers.
Relatives and friends have called for transparency from the authorities, urging the police to disclose Odhiambo’s location and the reasons for his detention. As the family continues to pray for his safety, human rights advocates have emphasized the need for due process and the right to a fair hearing.
