Nairobi Kenya is reeling after the brazen assassination of Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were, who was shot dead in a shocking daylight attack in the heart of Nairobi.
The incident happened at a busy intersection on Ngong Road. According to police sources, the MP had stopped at a red light when unknown assailants on a motorbike pulled up beside his car and opened fire. The attackers quickly fled the scene, disappearing into traffic before anyone could react.
“This was no random crime,” a senior police officer confirmed. “We believe this was a targeted hit. The assailants knew exactly what they were doing.”
Ong’ondo Were, known for his fearless stance on corruption and land disputes in Homa Bay County, had made headlines in recent months for challenging political interests. Investigators are now exploring several leads, including political rivalries and internal tensions within his party.
The use of a motorbike in the attack has reignited debate around security and crime in the city. Boda boda associations have condemned the killing, calling for calm and urging the public not to stigmatize riders.
