Betty Murungi, the wife of Siaya Governor James Orengo, has joined the nation and other leaders in mourning the passing of the mother of legendary musician Suzzana Owiyo.

In a post on Twitter, the popular artist announced that her mother, whom she called Nyopiyo, had passed on and expressed grief and sorrow for the death of a woman who she said was a pillar of strength and support for her family.

“My heart aches with sorrow, and the disbelief lingers – it’s hard to fathom that you’re no longer here with us. Thank you, Mama, for everything you’ve done. You stood as a towering pillar for our family, making life’s challenges seem effortless,” she tweeted.

“Your kindness, strength, authenticity, and honesty left an indelible mark on all of us. The precious memories we’ve created will forever be held close to my heart. Farewell, Nyopiyo. Until our paths cross again,” Owiyo added.

Murungi was among first people to send her message of condolence to the musician behind famous ‘Kisumu 100’ song over the death of her mum.

“Please accept my condolences, Suzanna. May God comfort your family at this difficult time,” tweeted Orengo’s wife who is also a lawyer and human rights crusader.

Veteran Radio Citizen presenter Fred Obachi Machokaa also joined in condoling Owiyo writing: “Pole sana my friend Suzanna, losing your mom must hurt really deep, but such are the moments when only the Almighty God takes over and calms the storm. May mama rest in perfect peace and may you and your family find comfort in the Lord.”

Renowned Ohangla artist Prince Indah was not left behind in comforting his colleague in the music industry following the passing of her beloved mother.

“My heartfelt condolences to the family and yourself osiepa, may mama’s soul rest in peace. Poleni sana,” Indah tweeted.
