With sadness still heavy in their hearts, the family of the late Ong’ondo Were gathered with friends and supporters to remember a great man. During the memorial, Ong’ondo Were’s son made an emotional promise — to continue his father’s legacy of leadership and service.
Ong’ondo Were, who passed away recently, was known for his love for the people and his dedication to building a better community. His death was a big loss not only to his family but also to many who respected him as a leader.
“My father was more than a parent,” his son said during the service. “He was a mentor, a role model, and a true servant of the people. I want to follow in his footsteps and keep his dream alive.”
His words touched many in the crowd, some of whom wiped away tears as they listened. The young man thanked everyone for their support during this difficult time and said he would do his best to make his father proud.
Community members welcomed his message. One local elder said, “We see hope in him. He speaks with strength, just like his father. We are ready to guide him.”
Although no official plans were shared, many believe Ong’ondo Were’s son may soon take on a leadership role, either in the community or in politics. For now, the family is taking time to grieve and remember the life of a man who meant so much to so many.
