Ogamba

Garissa County – In a heartfelt address to educators, Governor Nathif Ogamba urged teachers in Garissa to remain steadfast and committed to their mission despite growing security concerns. The governor acknowledged the persistent threat posed by Al-Shabaab, which has in recent months intensified attacks and instilled fear among communities, particularly in schools.

“Teachers are the backbone of our society. Their courage and dedication inspire hope, even in the darkest times,” Ogamba said during a meeting with school administrators and local education officials. He encouraged educators to continue nurturing the minds of young Kenyans, emphasizing that the future of the county depends on the resilience of its teachers.

While the governor’s words offered reassurance, some teachers expressed unease over the lack of concrete security measures. Reports indicate that several schools in remote areas remain vulnerable, and teachers face the constant dilemma of fulfilling their duty to educate while safeguarding their own lives.

Security officers have promised increased patrols and intelligence sharing, yet uncertainty looms.
