Dappa Man has been building a stellar career in the comedy space since he started working for YouTuber Oga Obinna.He currently has a show alongside his boss and TikToker Pamela Aely after they replaced comedian Kartelo In one of the interviews, Dappa got candid about his time in prison and revealed what led to him being sentenced.
YouTuber Oga Obinna’s employee Dappa Man has opened up about serving time in prison for a crime he did not commit. Oga Obinna’s employee, Dappa Man, shared how he navigated prison.
Dappa had, in an interview with Obinna, revealed that he had been sentenced to 15 years after a young lady accused him of sexual assault. What happened to Dappa Man in jail? He could be seen getting emotional, narrating how he managed to navigate life in prison, which led to him being pardoned later.
“You know, in prison, if you are in the kitchen sector, three people sleep outside because you are cooks. The three of you cook porridge for 6000 people. But it is also great because you will eat however you want. But even after cooking, you have no appetite to eat. But I am glad I left prison with money because it helped me start selling food,” he said.
He said he served in the kitchen department for six months before he was moved to be in charge of the store in prison, and it was during this time that he was pardoned. According to Dappa, there are so many people serving sentences, yet they are innocent, but had no way or means to fight for themselves.
“Anyone who sees me doing things they consider cheeky, just let me be. I am the one who helped the lady who got me arrested get a job here in Nairobi. The past already happened. She has come to Nairobi, and life has already been rough for her; she had a baby, and had married her elder sister’s husband. She never even furthered her education which was the reason I got arrested. Do not pay evil with evil,” he said.
Dappa claimed that the lady looked for him after he made it to Obinna’s show to plead with him to help her get a job. The comedian also noted that he still talks to the mother of the lady who accused him, but maintained that he never rings her.
