Kenyan rapper Octopizzo has sparked nationwide debate after declaring that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is facing confusion and fragmentation following the political exit and passing of veteran leader Raila Odinga.

According to Octopizzo, Raila’s absence has left a leadership vacuum that has shaken both the opposition and sections of the government, revealing deep-rooted dependence on the former prime minister’s political influence and charisma.

The artist noted that ODM’s internal struggles have intensified, with factions emerging and each side seeking to define a new political roadmap ahead of the 2027 general elections, but without a clear unifying figure.

Octopizzo argued that many politicians who once stood firm beside Raila are now exposed, showing they were merely echoing his sentiments rather than offering independent political thought or genuine leadership.

He described the current opposition landscape as “scattered and noisy,” emphasizing that without Raila’s guidance, the party appears to be losing its ideological foundation and strategic coherence.

Political analysts echo similar sentiments, observing that ODM has struggled to maintain unity and clarity since Raila’s departure, with younger leaders pushing for reforms while others cling to traditional party structures.

Supporters within ODM, however, insist that the party remains strong and is undergoing a natural transition process that will eventually lead to the emergence of a new generation of capable leaders.

Octopizzo’s remarks have ignited mixed reactions online, with some praising his honesty and others criticizing him for undermining ODM’s ongoing reorganization efforts during a sensitive political period.

As Kenya approaches 2027, the debate on Raila Odinga’s legacy and the future of ODM continues to dominate public discourse, revealing the enduring influence of the man who shaped opposition politics for decades.
