OCS Ndanu

A police officer, Agnes Muthigani Ndanu, has come under intense public scrutiny after being linked to an alleged domestic violence incident in Kasarani that left 27-year-old Nicole Akinyi with severe, life-altering injuries. The case has sparked widespread debate across Kenya as investigators work to establish the events that unfolded inside an apartment where the two women had spent the night.

Ndanu, 35, has served in the National Police Service for several years. Before the incident, she was the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at the International Life House Police Post. Reports indicate that she had only recently been transferred to Matungulu Police Station, just days before the alleged incident occurred.

Outside her policing career, Ndanu was known for maintaining an active presence on social media. Her posts frequently depicted her enjoying nightlife, posing with luxury vehicles, and visiting entertainment venues. Since news of the incident emerged, her online lifestyle has drawn significant public attention, with many noting the contrast between her public image and the serious allegations currently under investigation.

According to investigators, the incident occurred after Ndanu and Akinyi returned home following a night out. Akinyi alleges that an argument escalated into violence inside the apartment before she fell from the sixth-floor balcony. She survived the fall but sustained devastating spinal injuries and multiple fractures, reportedly leaving her paralysed from the waist down.

Authorities have stressed that the circumstances surrounding the fall remain under investigation, and no final conclusions have been reached. Investigators are also examining allegations that Ndanu may have used her position as a senior police officer to intimidate Akinyi and discourage her from reporting previous incidents.

The case prompted swift action from both the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), which have launched separate investigations. Their involvement underscores the seriousness of the allegations and the heightened public interest in the matter.

Videos shared online after the incident showed Ndanu being escorted by fellow police officers while crowds gathered outside the hospital where Akinyi was receiving treatment. The footage intensified public debate over accountability and the handling of cases involving law enforcement officers.

As investigations continue, detectives are expected to collect witness statements, forensic evidence, and medical reports to determine exactly what transpired inside the Kasarani apartment before Akinyi’s fall. Authorities have not released any final findings, and the matter remains under active investigation.
