Concerns regarding the health of ODM Party Leader Dr. Oburu Oginga have been dispelled after his family confirmed the 82-year-old politician is in good health and is simply taking a “brief sabbatical” in Dubai.

The clarification came in response to widespread speculation on social media that the Siaya Senator was unwell. His son and aide, Elijah Oburu, firmly dismissed these rumors as unfounded, stating, “It’s true he travelled, but he is not unwell. I wouldn’t mislead you. He simply took time off after weeks of demanding activities.”

Dr. Oburu personally reinforced this message of reassurance through a social media post on Friday, writing, “Feeling grateful for good health and high spirits. Taking a short sabbatical to recollect, recharge, and reset.” The post was accompanied by a calm photograph from Dubai.

The veteran politician’s break follows an intense period of political engagements, including the four-day ODM@20 anniversary celebrations in Mombasa and subsequent campaign activities for the Kasipul by-election. Party insiders attribute his temporary pause to the overwhelming workload from these back-to-back events, which left little room for rest.

His family has confirmed the break is temporary and that Dr. Oburu is expected to resume his duties shortly. Supporters have expressed relief at the confirmation of his well-being.
