A shocking murder plot was foiled at Bosongo Hospital in Kisii County, after two suspects attempted to bribe a medical intern to kill an 82-year-old man.
The incident, which occurred during the day led to the arrest of three individuals, including a community health nurse.
According to reports, the elderly victim, Jacob Moseti, was targeted in a scheme orchestrated by the nurse, identified as Fiona Mogere. The two suspects allegedly arrived at the hospital’s general ward with an insulin syringe filled with an unidentified drug, intending to pay the intern Ksh10,000 to inject Moseti and record the act as proof.
However, the intern sensed foul play and asked one of the suspects to accompany him for confirmation once the task was completed. Their refusal heightened suspicion, prompting the intern to request their phone for video proof instead. The suspects declined, further raising alarms.
Following swift police intervention, the two were arrested and subsequently implicated Fiona in the plot.
The 25-year-old nurse was accused of providing the syringe, leading to her detention at Nyanchua Police Station, where she remains under suicide watch. Authorities found her in possession of a pesticide, suggesting she may have planned to harm herself.
Moseti believes the murder plot stems from a long-standing family dispute, with some relatives accusing him of witchcraft. Police are investigating the motive as the suspects remain in custody for 14 days.
This troubling incident has sparked concerns about ethical conduct within healthcare, reinforcing the need for vigilance in medical settings.
