At least 10 students have been arrested after Litein Boys High School in Kericho County engaged in a rampage, resulting in the destruction of parts of the institution.
Kericho Governor Eric Mutai disclosed that the 10 suspects were arrested as a result of CCTV footage obtained by security personnel within the school premises.
Mutai mentioned that the suspects are currently being interrogated to provide further insights into the events of that night.
Mutai’s announcement follows the indefinite closure of the school, which was prompted by student protests against the administration.
The main issue was the school’s decision to prevent them from watching the English Premier League match between Arsenal and Manchester City.
Furthermore, Governor Mutai indicated that arrangements are being made to hold a special meeting with officials from the Ministry of Education.
According to Mutai, officials from the Ministry of Education will specifically investigate both the internal and external challenges faced by the school.
The meeting and the investigation will determine the underlying causes of the incident.
