Comedian Njugush has unveiled the first of his revamped Super Metro buses, and the timing has not gone unnoticed by Kenyans who have been closely following the events of his personal life.
Just days after Njugush announced his separation from his wife Celestine Wavinye in a breakup that shocked the country and dominated social media, the comedian channelled his energy into something productive.
He took his fleet of buses, which are registered under the Super Metro brand, in for a full makeover. The first bus to emerge from the revamp has left people talking for all the right reasons.
The exterior features portraits of some of Kenya’s most celebrated sports icons, including marathon world record holder Eliud Kipchoge and the new champion Sebastian Sawe, giving the bus a bold and proudly Kenyan identity that stands out on Nairobi’s roads. The interior has also been upgraded, with brand new seats replacing the old ones.
The unveiling has been received warmly by Kenyans who have praised both the design and the statement it makes about Kenyan excellence and identity in public transport
For many, the timing of the reveal also speaks to Njugush’s character. Rather than disappear from public view following one of the most personal announcements of his life, he showed up, put his head down and delivered something worth celebrating.
Njugush and Wavinye were considered one of Kenya’s most beloved couples, and their separation hit fans hard. The bus unveiling is being seen as the comedian’s quiet but clear signal that life goes on.
