Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has today broken silence with an evening powerful statement to Mt Kenya residents after they blamed Head of State His Excellency Dr William Samoei Ruto for the stalled Mau Mau roads in Kiambu, Nyeri and Murang’a.
Addressing via a statement dated today the 10th day of February 2024, DP Rigathi Gachagua has warned My Kenya residents against blaming the Head of State His Excellency Dr William Samoei Ruto for the stalled road projects in the region, articulating that the president is not the one behind the stalling of the road projects.
DP Gachagua has intimated that the roads stalled during the tenure of the former Jubilee regime due to lack of funds. He however underscored that the Head of State His Excellency Dr William Samoei Ruto has put in place strategic measures fostered towards ensuring that the stalled road projects in the region were completed.
“I want to reassure the people of Kiambu, Nyeri, and Murang’a that the Mau Mau roads are crucial in serving as a constant reminder of the blood we spilled during the expulsion of the British colonists from our territory. They serve as a continual reminder of our suffering, our people’s will to resist oppression, and our right to be treated with dignity. Due to a lack of funding, those roads were abandoned by the previous administration. I don’t want to hear President Ruto blamed for those roads ever again. Because I have witnessed the few residents of this area who have stayed in Azimio accusing the president of being to blame for the stalled Mau Mau roads. You know, even among yourselves, that contractors left their sites even prior to our election. Upon assuming office, we discovered empty coffers. The president has truly tried, and I want to convey to my people that although he may have difficulties along the way like any other person, thanks to his perseverance, hard work, devotion, and determination to changing this wonderful country, he is unmatched,” DP Gachagua said.
