Navy Commander

Kenya’s military just added a new group of elite underwater warriors to its ranks! Brigadier Mohammed Shemote, Commander of the Kenya Navy Fleet (KNF), led the official closing ceremony of the tough and demanding Basic Divers Course 03/25 at the Kenya Navy Base in Mtongwe, Mombasa.

This intense course trains soldiers to operate deep under water, often in high-risk environments where only the brave survive. The graduation marks the successful completion of one of the most physically and mentally demanding programs offered by the military. Watch full details and photos from the event here: Facebook Link

Brigadier Shemote congratulated the new divers for showing courage, resilience, and top discipline throughout the course. He reminded them that the skills they’ve acquired are critical for national security, especially in times of disaster response, sea rescues, and special naval missions.

Their training included everything from diving under strong tides, handling underwater explosives, and carrying out silent operations—all done under extreme pressure.

The course, known for pushing soldiers to their limits, is not for the faint-hearted. Only the strongest make it through, which is why this graduation is such a big achievement. For many, it’s not just about passing the course—it’s about proving they can be trusted to protect Kenya’s coastline and waters under any circumstances.

Many young people might not know how much goes into such training. It’s not like the movies—these divers deal with real-life dangers, real exhaustion, and real discipline. The ceremony was more than just a celebration; it was a powerful reminder of the sacrifice and strength our military puts in behind the scenes.

For the youth inspired by military service, this moment shows that success takes more than dreams—it takes action, patience, and serious training. Kenya’s Navy continues to grow stronger, and these fresh divers are now part of a critical mission to secure the country’s ocean borders.

In the end, it’s not just about diving—it’s about defending. And these new heroes are ready for the deep.
