Former Nominated MP Prof. Jacqueline Oduol is in dreamland after being appointed as the acting Siaya County Executive Committee Member for health in the latest changes made by Siaya County Governor James Orengo.

Prof. Oduol succeeds Dr Tom Konyango whose term of service had come to an end.

The former lawmaker is the substantive Water CEC, the position she has held since 2022 when she joined Orengo’s cabinet.

The renowned scholar was unsuccessful in her bid for the Alego Usonga MP seat, losing to Samuel Atandi during the ODM party nominations. It was the second time that she had failed in her bid for the position.

In 2017, she lost the Alego Usonga MP race but was given a soft landing when she was nominated by ODM party to the National Assembly.

The former university don had at one point served as gender Permanent Secretary during the reign of the late President Mwai Kibaki.

Prof. Oduol, a consummate academic and scholar, is a holder of a PhD in literature. She had a long and distinguished career as a lecturer at the University of Nairobi before joining United States International University- Africa, where she rose to become a professor.
