Detectives in Nakuru County have arrested a 27-year-old man suspected of carrying out a series of house break-ins in Tabuga and neighbouring areas over the past two months.
The suspect, identified as Calvin Okoli Ndimu, was arrested at his hideout in Free Area following an intelligence-led operation by officers from Githioro Police Station.
According to preliminary reports, detectives raided his residence and conducted a search that led to the recovery of several household items believed to have been stolen during the alleged burglaries.
Among the items recovered were two 43-inch television sets, two television stands and three subwoofers. Officers also seized assorted clothing, bedding and footwear suspected to have been taken from homes targeted during the break-ins.
The search further uncovered a pair of Kenya Defence Forces jungle trousers, a homemade toy gun, one live round of ammunition and blank ammunition measuring 7.62 by 51 millimetres.
Investigators believe the recovered property could provide important evidence linking the suspect to the reported incidents. Several items have reportedly already been identified by their rightful owners, giving detectives additional leads as they work to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged offences.
Police are now investigating whether Ndimu may be connected to other burglaries reported in Nakuru County. Detectives are also seeking to determine whether he allegedly operated alone or had accomplices who helped him carry out the break-ins.
The arrest has raised hopes among residents of Tabuga and nearby neighbourhoods who have been affected by reports of house burglaries in recent months.
Authorities are continuing to gather evidence and establish the full extent of the suspect’s alleged activities. The recovered items are expected to form part of the ongoing investigation.
The suspect remains in police custody as detectives finalise their inquiries and prepare the necessary documentation ahead of his expected court appearance.
