County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Agriculture in Trans Nzoia County, operating under stewardship of Governor George Natembeya, Hon. Phanice Naliaka Khatundi has caused abuzz online after reacting to the photo of Senator Edwin Sifuna, receiving a hug from Mama Ida Odinga at Odinga’s family Karen residence during celebrations of the late Raila Odinga’s posthumous birthday (80+1).
In her post, the CECM has slammed Senator Sifuna for failing to use his both hands to hold Mama Ida Odinga as she was giving him organic hug. Khatundi expected to see Sifuna responding to Mama Ida’s hug with his two hands the way it has always been when two people hug. Netizens have reacted upon seeing Khatundi’s post. Some have sided with Sifuna saying that the ODM Secretary General acted like that to show some respect to Mama Ida Odinga. For them, Mama Ida is just like Sifuna’s mother.
A netizen identified as Churchill Dibondo has commented saying,” That’s a respectful way of hugging a woman who is not your wife, mother, sister.” He wrote.
Another netizen who’s name is Hillary Wafula, has reacted saying,” Unfortunately you don’t understand what Mama Ida was trying to communicate. You might be focusing on other issues. This was a message to those opposing Sifuna.” He wrote.
