Tanzanian singer Nandy has addressed persistent rumours that she and fellow Bongo Flava star Zuchu do not get along, insisting that their relationship away from the cameras is far more cordial than some fans believe.
Nandy spoke about the rumours during the 40-day celebration of Diamond Platnumz and Zuchu’s daughter in Dar es Salaam on Saturday, September 12, 2026. The event brought together members of the couple’s families, friends and several notable figures from Tanzania’s entertainment industry.
The celebration was also significant because Diamond and Zuchu publicly introduced their daughter, Sandrah Naseeb, to guests and fans.
For some time, social media users have speculated about tension between Nandy and Zuchu. The two singers are often mentioned together because of their positions as successful female artistes in Tanzania’s competitive Bongo Flava industry.
However, Nandy dismissed the suggestion that their friendly interactions at public events were staged to convince fans that they had settled their differences.
According to Nandy, she and Zuchu have interacted on numerous occasions away from public events and cameras. She explained that their work in the music industry frequently brings them into the same spaces, including recording studios and other entertainment-related venues.
Nandy said their interactions are normal and involve conversations about different issues, rather than being limited to moments when they are appearing in public.
She also rejected the idea that Zuchu’s success should make her feel threatened. Nandy argued that Tanzania’s music industry is large enough for different artistes to succeed without viewing one another as competitors.
The singer maintained that both women can build successful careers without creating unnecessary hostility between them.
Her comments have offered a different perspective on the long-running speculation surrounding their relationship. Social media users have occasionally interpreted their public encounters as evidence of either rivalry or an attempt to end rumours of a feud.
Nandy’s appearance at Zuchu’s daughter’s 40-day celebration was therefore notable, particularly because the gathering brought together people from Diamond’s wider family and social circle.
Nandy is married to fellow Tanzanian musician Billnass, while Zuchu is romantically linked to Diamond Platnumz. Their partners’ connections within the entertainment industry have also increased the occasions on which the two singers meet.
The celebration further highlighted the changing dynamics within Diamond’s extended family. Zari Hassan’s daughter, Tiffah, was also present and reportedly delivered a warm message concerning the newborn.
Tiffah promised to play with and protect her younger sister, offering fans a glimpse into the family relationships surrounding Diamond and Zuchu’s daughter.
For Nandy, however, the main message from the event was clear: she does not consider Zuchu an enemy. Her explanation suggests that what fans sometimes interpret as rivalry may simply be two successful artistes navigating the same entertainment industry while maintaining a cordial relationship.
The remarks could help calm some of the speculation that has followed the pair for years, particularly whenever they are seen together at major entertainment or family events.
