A moment of silence has been experienced in the National Assembly after Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has dared on the presentation of material evidence concerning the athletes who recently complained that they weren’t given reception when they came back to Kenya from their competitions.
Namwamba has now made a move to set the record straight since he was being accused of not being there for the athletes who represent the country.
According to him, he has told the speaker of the national assembly together with legislators that he has videos and even pictures showing how these athletes were received.
He has made it clear that they received a warm welcome with a team of traditional dancers singing for them and flowers being presented to them. This now dismisses the allegations leveled against him as he has proof bis ministry did the right thing to athletes.
“I can also confirm that we remained in touch with team throughout the period of these games. We tracked their participation and upon their return from this trip we had a reception at the airport complete with traditional dances Mr speaker which is a tradition for us in this country. We had officers of the ministry and even had gallants of flowers to celebrate them. Mr speaker I have images and videos of the very elaborate ceremony of receiving these athletes at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport,” revealed CS Ababu Namwamba.
