A 32-year-old woman in Nakuru has opened up about the emotional moment she witnessed her newlywed husband’s secret daily struggle.
Mary Wanjiku married Daniel Omwamba, 34, a former soldier who lost both legs above the knee during an explosion at a military base. Despite facing strong opposition from her family before their wedding, Mary said she chose love and stayed by his side.
However, just seven days into their marriage at their home in Section 58, Nakuru, Daniel grew unusually distant. Yesterday afternoon, Mary returned home early to find their bedroom door locked. Hearing heavy thuds and ragged breathing from inside, she unlocked the door in panic.
She found Daniel on the floor, stubbornly struggling alone to transfer himself from his wheelchair to practice walking without his prosthetics so he could surprise her with a dance.
“I was shocked and overwhelmed with emotion,” Mary shared. “Seeing him endure so much pain just to make me happy broke my heart, but it also showed me the deep love he has for us.”
Local neighbors and friends have praised the couple’s resilience, describing their bond as a powerful testament to genuine love and hope.
