Lower Savannah MCA aspirant Ibrahim Nyangweso is currently receiving treatment in hospital after suffering injuries during the Linda Mwananchi Rally in Nairobi.
Nyangweso reportedly fell from the top of a moving vehicle in an incident that occurred while he was engaging members of the public during the campaign event. Witnesses say he was accompanied by Nuru Okanga at the time of the fall.
According to accounts of the incident, Nyangweso had climbed onto the vehicle to address supporters and traders as the rally moved through parts of the city.
However, when he attempted to regain his footing while the vehicle was still in motion, he allegedly slipped, landing awkwardly and sustaining serious harm to his back.
He is said to have injured his backbone and, as a result, was unable to walk immediately after the incident.
In an appeal following the accident, Nyangweso expressed concern that his condition will require continued medical attention, and he is now asking for financial assistance to help cover hospital bills.
The aspirant stated that settling his current expenses is urgent, and that additional medication and further treatment may be necessary as doctors continue to assess the extent of his injuries.
Local observers also noted that the incident unfolded shortly after a video circulated online in which Okanga, described as a close ally of the late Raila Odinga, was seen speaking to traders at Marikiti in Nairobi while positioned on top of a vehicle.
Minutes after that appearance, Nyangweso’s fall reportedly occurred, sparking concern among rally attendees.
Nyangweso, who is campaigning for the position of Member of County Assembly (MCA), said he remains hopeful for recovery but emphasized that the costs associated with medical care are beyond his means.
He urged members of the public, well-wishers, and supporters to come forward and help meet his treatment needs, stressing that even small contributions would make a meaningful difference.
