Two individuals lost their lives and two others sustained serious injuries in Ngara after being lynched of attempting to rob a businessman inside a matatu en route to Gachie.
According to witnesses, a passenger raised an alarm, alleging that he had been attacked and robbed by the matatu crew along with two men who were pretending to be fellow passengers.
This cry for assistance attracted the attention of bystanders, who obstructed the road and confronted the suspects with stones and sticks.
The four men were swiftly transported to a hospital; however, two of them, the driver and the tout, were declared dead upon arrival.
Law enforcement officials recovered multiple mobile phones from the matatu, which are believed to have been stolen from unsuspecting passengers during previous trips.
The vehicle was subsequently taken to a police station for further investigation.
Meanwhile, police have launched investigation into the incident in order to unveil another group working with the deceased.
Passengers have been cautioned to stay alert at all times especially in public transport to avoid being robbed.
