Investigators have made a significant breakthrough in the homicide case of Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo. We’re following the detention of the primary suspect, Isaac Kuria, also known as “Kush”.
Kuria, who was apprehended near the Kenya-Tanzania border, is now collaborating with investigators and has allegedly identified the individuals who contracted and compensated him to execute the murder. The MP was fatally shot in Nairobi near City Mortuary in what authorities now suspect was a meticulously planned and politically driven execution.
Kuria was located and apprehended after evading law enforcement for several days, using different routes through Narok and Migori counties.
Reports indicate that he was preparing to flee to Tanzania with assistance from close associates.
His detention brings the total number of suspects in custody to eleven, including the MP’s bodyguard, driver, and several prominent figures like businessman Phillip Aroko and government official Ebel Ochieng.
Investigators believe these individuals may have played significant roles in funding or facilitating the operation.
Sources close to the investigation claim that Kuria admitted to receiving payment and specific instructions from individuals believed to have political connections.
He also revealed the whereabouts of vital evidence, such as weapons and communication equipment, which may be hidden.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are now scrutinising financial documents, phone records, and surveillance footage to uncover the full network behind the assassination.
Authorities describe the operation as “pre-planned and expertly carried out”.
The court has authorised the police to detain Kuria for 30 days as the investigation progresses.
