Detectives have intensified investigations into the shocking murder of Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were, with emerging evidence pointing to a calculated plan executed by individuals close to him.

Police now want five more suspects arrested and detained for 30 days as they finalise the probe.

Among them are the MP’s bodyguard, driver, and a neighbour from his rural home in Homa Bay.Investigators believe the killing was meticulously planned during meetings held in both Nairobi and Homa Bay long before the April 30 shooting.

Crucial to the case are CCTV recordings from city surveillance systems and private cameras near the crime scene.

Police are also analysing mobile phone data and using triangulation technology to track movements and communication between suspects.

Ten suspects are now in custody, including two believed to have trailed the MP from Parliament to the spot where he was gunned down in traffic.

At one suspect’s home, police recovered pistols, bullets, SIM cards, and mobile phones, now undergoing forensic analysis.

Detectives say the suspects were in constant contact before and after the attack.

One of them, a neighbour known as Dave Calo, had allegedly threatened the MP and is now suspected to be a key planner in the plot.

Police are also mapping new scenes believed to have been used for planning meetings.

Statements from witnesses have matched the descriptions of several suspects, and more arrests are expected.

As investigations deepen, the court will soon rule on whether to detain the suspects further.

Meanwhile, a businessman among those arrested has applied for bond, denying any involvement in the killing.

Authorities remain determined to uncover the full extent of the plot and bring all those involved to justice.
