Nairobi-based content creator Rodgers Oloo Magudha, popularly known as “Nairobi Birdman,” has defended his unusual lifestyle after a doctor raised concerns and called for government intervention.
The doctor had urged the Ministry of Health to look into the TikToker’s close interaction with wild birds, warning that such exposure could pose health risks.
In response, Nairobi Birdman dismissed the concerns, saying he has lived this way for a long time without experiencing any health problems.
He claimed that he often interacts closely with birds and even eats at dumping sites where the birds feed, insisting that he feels healthy and sees no danger in his way of life.
His remarks quickly sparked debate online, with Kenyans divided over the issue. Some supported him, saying he has the freedom to live as he chooses as long as he is not harming others.
Others, however, expressed worry and said his actions could expose him to dangerous diseases that may not show immediate effects.
Health experts generally warn that contact with wild birds and waste sites can expose humans to infections, including zoonotic diseases that can spread from animals to people.
Despite the concerns, Nairobi Birdman maintained that people should not judge him based on fear, saying his experience proves he is safe.
The discussion has since grown across social media, raising broader questions about public health awareness and personal freedom.
Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the matter.
As debate continues, Kenyans remain divided on whether the influencer’s lifestyle should be investigated or simply left as a personal choice.
