Posshy queen

Tanzanian socialite Poshy Queen has found herself at the centre of renewed online attention after private messages she says were sent to her by Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo resurfaced following his tragic death.

Before the businessman’s death, Poshy had shared screenshots of what she described as private conversations between the two, claiming that Chivayo had approached her with a request to date him.

The screenshots quickly spread across social media, sparking intense reactions from followers who were eager to understand the circumstances behind the alleged exchange.

According to Poshy, she chose not to accept Chivayo’s advances. She explained that she was already in a committed relationship and had no intention of walking away from her boyfriend, regardless of the wealth, fame or status of the person making the proposal.

Her decision earned praise from some of her followers, with several social media users applauding her for remaining committed to her relationship.

However, what was initially a celebrity relationship story has taken a tragic turn following the death of Chivayo and his wife in a helicopter crash in Zimbabwe.

Chivayo, a prominent businessman known across the region for his flamboyant lifestyle and high-profile public appearances, died after the helicopter he was travelling in crashed in the Marondera rural area, approximately 70 kilometres east of Harare.

The Wednesday evening crash claimed the lives of all six people aboard the aircraft.

Zimbabwean government spokesman Nick Mangwana confirmed that the helicopter was carrying a prominent businessman, three other passengers and two pilots. There were no survivors.

Reports indicate that Chivayo and his wife had been travelling from Chikomba, where they were reportedly developing a rural home.

The cause of the crash remains unclear, with authorities beginning investigations to establish what led to the fatal incident.

Chivayo had become one of Zimbabwe’s most recognisable businessmen, particularly because of the extravagant lifestyle he frequently displayed publicly.

His name regularly featured in social media conversations over expensive gifts, luxury cars, high-value purchases and generous gestures towards celebrities, religious figures and other prominent personalities.

His sudden death has therefore generated widespread reaction well beyond Zimbabwe.

As news of the crash spread, social media users began revisiting some of the businessman’s previous interactions and controversies, including the screenshots posted by Poshy Queen.

Some users expressed shock that the private exchange had resurfaced at such a tragic moment, while others urged people to allow Chivayo’s family time to grieve rather than focusing on old celebrity controversies.

The screenshots shared by Poshy have not been independently verified, and it remains unclear from the available information whether the accounts or messages were authenticated.

For Poshy, however, the episode has now become part of a much larger story surrounding a businessman whose life frequently played out in the public eye.

What began as an alleged romantic approach and a social-media revelation has been overshadowed by an unexpected tragedy.

Chivayo’s death has prompted an outpouring of condolences from across Zimbabwe and beyond, with friends, associates and members of the public remembering the businessman and mourning the lives lost in the crash.

As investigators work to establish what caused the helicopter to go down, attention has shifted from the viral screenshots to the devastating loss suffered by the families of the six victims.

The tragedy has also served as a reminder of how quickly the narratives surrounding public figures can change. One moment, Chivayo was making headlines over his wealth, lifestyle and personal relationships; the next, his name was dominating news reports because of a fatal accident that claimed his life and those travelling with him.
