Suspicion is growing within the family of the late Robert Moses Magotsi after they discovered that his Facebook account had been mysteriously disabled shortly after his death.
Magotsi, a Kenyan engineer and entrepreneur who worked in South Africa and Mozambique, died on October 11 under circumstances his relatives say remain unclear.
His cousin, Pamellah Nyawade, was among the first to sense something was wrong. After receiving the tragic news, she went to his Facebook page hoping to gather photos and memories to comfort the family. Instead, she found that the account had vanished. The sudden disappearance immediately raised questions among relatives who were already struggling to understand what had happened to him.
Tension between Magotsi’s family and his partner, Victoria Wanjiku, has been building as their grieving paths collide both privately and publicly. While Wanjiku has been sharing her pain openly on social media, the family says they have been shut out at a time when they needed unity the most.
Relatives claim Wanjiku blocked several of them on WhatsApp and Facebook, leaving them unable to communicate or get answers about the days following Magotsi’s death.
Meanwhile, Wanjiku continued to post emotional messages and videos online, grieving the man she described as her soulmate. One of her posts, including a video showing her scattering Magotsi’s ashes into the Pacific Ocean, left the family devastated. They say they had no knowledge of the cremation details or the ash dispersion until they saw it on social media.
