Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has marked another memorable family occasion after her eldest son, Njuguna Waiguru, married his longtime partner, Joanne Rodriguez.
The couple celebrated their white wedding on Saturday, August 29, at a picturesque garden venue in Naivasha. The ceremony brought together relatives, close friends, political leaders and other prominent guests who gathered to witness the couple begin a new chapter of their lives.
President William Ruto attended the ceremony as the chief guest, alongside several governors, Members of Parliament and other dignitaries. Their presence added a notable political touch to the otherwise intimate family celebration.
A day after the wedding, Waiguru shared her joy publicly through a social media post dedicated to the newlyweds. Her message captured the emotions of a proud mother celebrating her son’s transition into marriage.
“My heart is full. Congratulations, Joanne and Ian, on your wedding! Wishing you a lifetime of love, laughter, and endless happiness together. Mum,” she wrote.
The wedding venue was transformed with elegant decorations featuring maroon, burgundy and green tones, creating a warm and sophisticated setting for the outdoor celebration.
Joanne drew attention in an off-shoulder beaded lace wedding gown, while Njuguna complemented her appearance in a cream tuxedo jacket, tailored trousers and brown loafers.
The ceremony represented another important step in the couple’s relationship. Njuguna, who is an entrepreneur, and Joanne had previously marked their engagement and traditional wedding earlier in the year before holding their white wedding.
During the celebration, President Ruto also offered his congratulations to the couple and shared advice on building a lasting marriage. He encouraged them to embrace patience, forgiveness and mutual understanding while emphasizing the importance of listening to each other and continually choosing to remain committed to their union.
Waiguru’s post subsequently attracted numerous reactions from Kenyans, with many followers joining her in celebrating the couple and wishing them happiness, love and a successful marriage.
The governor has experienced another significant family celebration in recent times. Her son Don also got married to Yvonne in a traditional Ngurario ceremony, giving the family another opportunity to celebrate love and marriage.
