Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga held another rally in Kakamega, Amalemba grounds on Saturday, February 25.

The ODM leader was flanked by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Narc Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua, former Kakamega Governor Wickliffe Oparanya, the incumbent Governor Fernandes Baraza, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi and a host of other elected leaders from Azimio.

Senator Osotsi stood up to speak calling out the Head of State William Ruto for sidelining the Western region and failing to deliver on his promises six months after taking the oath of office.

He noted that Ruto has shortchanged Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi by failing to gazette his post and include it in the constitution as he promised in their pre-election agreement.

Osotsi referred to Mudavadi as a ghost worker owing to the perceived precarious nature of his position.

“[William Ruto] lied to my brother who voted for me in Vihiga County Musalia Mudavadi. He lied to him that he will gazette his Prime Cabinet Secretary post and include it in the constitution within one month. He is now a ghost worker in the government. He also said he will construct one thousand kilometers of tarmac but we have looked at the supplementary budget there is no such allocation. So our big friend here is Raila Odinga,” he said. Mudavadi broke ranks with Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka to join Ruto in the run-up to the August polls. He and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula were promised the positions they are currently occupying in exchange for their support.

Today’s rally is an addition to the planned countrywide gatherings by Raila meant to call for electoral reforms and accountability of the Kenya Kwanza administration.
