In a significant turn of events, President William Ruto signed into law the IEBC Bill 2024 in the precense of Azimio leader Raila Odinga and Stephen Musyoka. As a result, Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina reacted with a message to Kenyans.

He urged them to brace themselves for a revelation of the truth about politicians and their underlying motives.

His statement comes on the heels of the meeting between President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga, where President Ruto signed the IEBC (Amendment) Bill, 2024 into law at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

The IEBC (Amendment) Bill, 2024, which was also witnessed by Kalonzo Musyoka, paves the way for the establishment of a panel to hire new commissioners for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). This move is seen as a crucial step in reforming the electoral body ahead of future elections.

Senator Ole Kina’s remarks shed light on a deeper issue within the political landscape. He emphasizes that the real problem does not lie with the politicians themselves, who are often in office for a limited period, but with the technocrats who draft the bills.

According to Ole Kina, most politicians do not thoroughly read the bills they pass in parliament. Instead, these bills are crafted by technocrats, and politicians merely table them.
