Hon. Peter Salasya has expressed confidence in the ongoing Malava by-election, assuring residents that their will cannot be overturned despite the tension and disruptions reported throughout the day.

According to him, the constituency is well-prepared, with several parallel independent tallying centres operating to ensure transparency, accountability, and protection of the true vote.

He noted that even though there were attempts to create chaos and intimidate voters, these efforts would not derail the democratic process or shake the people’s resolve.

Salasya dismissed the notion that the situation in Down Hill was a major setback, insisting that Malava remains firmly in control and that the people’s choice will prevail.

He emphasized that goonism, violence, or any form of intimidation can never override the will of determined voters, and called on residents to remain calm and focused as voting continues.

He also conveyed solidarity with Hon. Seth Kuka Panyako, who reportedly sought refuge at a police station after his family and supporters were attacked.

Salasya assured the public that Panyako’s safety is a priority, and that they will escort him out when it is safe and appropriate—especially once results are ready for announcement.

The MP urged Malava residents to stay patient, peaceful, and vigilant, reminding them that their collective voice cannot be stolen or silenced.

He reinforced his belief that the people’s mandate will triumph, regardless of external pressure or interference. The by-election, he affirmed, belongs to the people of Malava, and their decision will stand.
