Mumias East member of parliament Peter Salasya has been arraigned in court for hate speech. The member of parliament has been released on a bond of Sh.400,000 or a cash bail of Sh.200,000 by the Milimani Law Courts. This comes days after he claimed to have been attacked by officers claiming to be from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

Salasya reported that the officers shot at his vehicle’s wheels aiming to harm him, they later took him to the DCI headquarters along Kiambu road. He posted on his instagram page that the officers attacked him and his security on his way to Nanyuki from Isiolo.

In other news, renowned gospel singer Alex Nyachonga Apoko popularly known as Ringtone Apoko, has been released by Milimani courts on Sh.3 million bond or Sh.1 million cash bail pending trial over alleged Sh.50 million land fraud in Karen.

The case originated from a complaint lodged at the DCI headdquarters on May 18, 2023. The complainant, a woman who legally owns the property, alleged that Ringtone, alongside his accomplice Juma Ayoro and a group of hired thugs, stormed her Karen residence. They reportedly forcibly evicted the caretaker and took possession of the property leading to the legal battle.

Following the complaint, DCI’s land fraud detectives launched investigation and uncovered that Ringtone and his accomplice conspired to defraud the ictim by filing a fraudulent affidavit on February 28, 2023. However, investigations revealed that the victim was the rightful owner since March 14, 2000, diligently paying all applicable rates and bills to date.
