Kikuyu member of parliament, Kimani Ichungwah, has sent his condolences to the families and friends of 15 people who died in a tragic road accident in Webuye.
According to reports, a truck driver allegedly ran over boda boda operators and residents who were attempting to rescue two boda boda riders who collided.
Fifteen people, among them six relatives, died on the spot, and their bodies were moved to the mortuary by police who were called to the scene.
On March 12, 2026, MP Ichungwah, who spoke about the incident, said that the tragic accident in Webuye that claimed 15 lives is a stark reminder of the urgent need to strengthen road safety in the country.
He added that it underscores why the Ministry of Transport must continue implementing a solid and effective plan to curb accidents on the country’s roads and save lives.
“It is a call to all road users, drivers, riders, and pedestrians, to remain careful, mindful, and cautious whenever they are on the road. Every life lost is one too many, and together we must cultivate a culture of responsibility and safety on our roads,” MP Kimani Ichungwah said.
Meanwhile, police are searching for the truck driver who is reported to have fled from the scene after the fatal road accident.
