A suspected gang leader was shot dead in a dramatic incident in Nairobi Central Business District after he allegedly attacked a police officer from the General Service Unit (GSU).

According to police reports, the man, who had been on the wanted list for several serious crimes, confronted the officer in broad daylight. Witnesses say the suspect was armed with a sharp weapon and suddenly attacked the officer, catching him off guard. In the struggle, the officer sustained serious injuries.

Other security officers who were nearby responded quickly after hearing the commotion. They rushed to the scene and ordered the suspect to surrender. However, the man reportedly refused and attempted to escape, forcing the officers to open fire. He was shot dead on the spot.

The injured GSU officer was quickly taken to a nearby hospital where he is receiving treatment. Police have confirmed that he is in stable condition, though he suffered deep cuts during the attack.

The incident caused panic among members of the public, with many running for safety as gunshots rang out. Businesses in the area temporarily closed as security officers secured the scene and began investigations.
