Award-winning gospel artist Moji Shortbabaa has addressed the ongoing public curiosity about why he and his wife, Nyawira Gachugi, have yet to have children, four years after tying the knot.

In a candid interview on Radio 47, Moji explained that the pressure to start a family doesn’t come from those closest to him but rather from outsiders, especially social media users.

“There’s no pressure from my family. Our setup is quite different—my grandmother doesn’t pressure us. All that pressure comes from outside, from people who have opinions about everything,” he said.

“A Child Is a Blessing From God”
When asked if they had deliberately chosen to delay starting a family, Moji replied that they haven’t made any specific decision but believe that children come in God’s perfect timing.

“We haven’t planned anything in particular, but we know a child is a blessing from God. Whether you plan or not, when it’s time, they’ll come,” he said.

The singer also noted that he avoids judging other couples on the topic of children, sharing that he was born when his mother was just 17 years old.

“I don’t like discussing children in people’s marriages. My own mum had me at 17. I wish I could say more, but people should just wait and see the outcome,” he added.

Celebrating Four Years of Marriage
Earlier this month, the couple marked their fourth wedding anniversary with heartfelt tributes on social media. Nyawira posted a moving reflection on their wedding day in May 2021.

“I remember the morning of our wedding—how excited I was to become your forever wife. You’ve been everything I prayed for: a true friend, a strength giver, and someone who corrects me with love. I am so blessed through you. May God keep us!” she wrote.

The couple wed in an intimate ceremony at Sovereign Suites, surrounded by close friends and immediate family.

Moji also shared his gratitude on Instagram, quoting Proverbs 18:22:

“He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord.”
He added, “Nyawira Gachugi, I’m glad I found you. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for us.”

Nyawira echoed the joy of that day, writing, “The girl became a Mrs. Forever begun.” On her Insta-story, she shared a wedding photo with the caption, “Yes, it’s official. We are married. We are happy. We are grateful.”
