Moi University has issued a fresh directive reminding students to observe the institution’s dress code while on campus, with disciplinary action threatened against those who fail to comply.

The directive was contained in an internal memo dated September 22, 2026, issued by the Dean of Students, Dr Alice Mutai. The university cited provisions of its Rules and Regulations Governing the Conduct and Discipline of Students.
Under the new directive, students have been told to avoid micro and mini-skirts, skin-tight trousers, ragged or ripped jeans, low-cut blouses and dresses, micro shorts and transparent or revealing clothing.
The list also includes sleeveless T-shirts, clothing exposing the chest or bra straps, sagging trousers and garments carrying obscene writings. Slippers, Crocs and other plastic footwear have also been listed as inappropriate for university premises.
The university has directed students to dress in what it describes as modest and appropriate attire while on campus. Staff members have also reportedly been instructed not to serve students who are dressed contrary to the requirements.
Moi University has previously had similar dress-code regulations. In February 2024, the institution issued guidelines prohibiting a number of outfits, including mini-skirts, ripped jeans, skin-tight trousers, Crocs and plastic footwear.
The latest directive therefore represents a renewed enforcement of the university’s existing student-conduct framework rather than an entirely new approach to campus dressing.
Students who disregard the current requirements risk disciplinary action under the university’s regulations. Moi University continues to publish student notices and governance documents through its official platforms.
