Alam Santo Malek, a young woman who was earlier reported missing, has finally spoken out, confirming that she eloped voluntarily to escape a forced marriage and pursue her personal happiness.
In a video shared widely on social media, Santo revealed that she made the decision to leave her family after being pressured to marry someone she didn’t love. She explained that she chose a path aligned with her own dreams, including completing her education and living life on her terms.
Her sudden disappearance caused public panic, and a man believed to be her lover—a student—was arrested in connection with the incident. There were also reports of violent backlash from those close to the bride-to-be. Despite the uproar, Santo insisted she was not abducted and left willingly.
She stated, “I chose happiness,” emphasizing that her future should be her own decision. While she didn’t name the person she eloped with, many believe she is now with the student she had been romantically linked to.
Her message has sparked online debate, with many supporting her bravery while others question her defiance of cultural expectations.
