A nairobi family has been thrown into deep shock after a DNA test revealed that two 21-year-olds raised as cousins are actually biological twin sisters.
The stunning discovery happened in Nairobi’s Lang’ata estate when Ryan and Amani, who grew up believing they were just cousins, decided to take a routine ancestry DNA test. Instead of simple family matches, the results clearly showed a 99.9% twin match, turning their world upside down.
“Mum, why does this DNA test say Amani is my twin sister?” Ryan asked, trembling as she held the results.
The revelation forced an emotional confession from their mothers, sisters who had given birth at Mbagathi District Hospital 21 years ago. At the time, one mother was falsely told her baby had died, a painful lie that has now unravelled.
While the family is currently dealing with anger and immense sadness over the decades of deception, neighbors say the young women are just relieved to finally know the truth. They are now seeking counseling to heal from the trauma.
