Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has once again reminded Kenyans why he is in a class of his own when it comes to grabbing attention, after posting a photo that has sent social media into a complete frenzy.
In the image that has since gone viral with over 93,000 views, Sonko is seen strolling casually through what appears to be a residential street at night, dressed sharply in an all white outfit complete with a white hat and walking stick.
What stopped Kenyans dead in their tracks was not the outfit. It was what he was walking on a leash alongside him. A fully grown, snarling tiger.
Sonko captioned the photo with his trademark casual nonchalance, describing the outing as “just a simple evening walk, taking it slow and easy,” and signing off with a cheerful “Be blessed.”
The post racked up over 1,700 likes and 121 reposts within hours, with Kenyans flooding the comments section with a mixture of disbelief, laughter and genuine concern about the legality of keeping a tiger as a household pet.
Critics have raised serious questions about wildlife ownership laws and public safety, pointing out that a tiger on a leash in a residential area is anything but a simple evening stroll.
Sonko, however, appeared entirely unbothered by the uproar. Whether the tiger is a real pet, a hired prop, or a digitally enhanced photo, one thing is certain. When Mike Sonko wants to remind Kenya he still exists, he does not do it quietly.
