He is the man that the Kenya Defence Forces can always count on when it comes to special operations.
The hard-nosed Special Operations commando, who boasts 35 years of military service, was very instrumental during Kenya’s ” Operation Linda Nchi ” in Somalia.
Then in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, the now Major General John Nkoimo, is the General Commanding Officer commanding Special Operations Command.
The green- bereted Kenya Army commando had previously served as the Commandant, Kenya Military Academy, Lanet.
After leaving the cadets school, he was posted to the Border Security Command as its commandant.
Born 56 years ago in Narok County, Major General Nkoimo was enlisted into the Kenya Defence Forces as Officer Cadet in 1990 and commissioned as second lieutenant the following year.
He was part of the KDF peacekeeping mission in the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s when the then Balkan state went to a civil war.
