The late veteran politician Dalmas Otieno was not only remembered for his decades of service in Parliament but also for the strong family legacy he left behind.During his requiem mass at Don Bosco Catholic Church in Nairobi, mourners caught a glimpse of his son, Otieno John Okello, who many noted bears a striking resemblance to his father.

John, the firstborn son of the former Rongo MP, stood beside his spouse as he delivered an emotional tribute to his late father.

He acknowledged that carrying the family mantle has not been easy, especially after Dalmas’s passing earlier this month at his Kileleshwa home.

In his moving speech, John described his father as a man who believed in preparation and responsibility.

He revealed that Dalmas had often reminded him to remain strong for the family, preparing him to take charge in difficult times.John vowed to honor that advice and remain a pillar of support to his mother and siblings.

Mourners also recalled the family’s journey, including the death of Dalmas’s second wife Jane in January 2024, and resilience shown by his first wife Patricia, who lived harmoniously with co-wife Dorothy for 14 years.

Patricia’s openness about their family life painted a picture of unity rarely seen in modern households.

As John stood with his spouse by his side, many said the resemblance to his late father was unmistakable.

His composure and words of strength further echoed Dalmas’s character, reinforcing the belief that the former lawmaker’s legacy of leadership, resilience, and dignity lives on through his children.
