The list of Kenyans working for major international news organizations is quite big, with names such as Larry Madowo at CNN, Victoria Rubadiri also at CNN, and others.
Despite the fame of some journalists, a journalist who has been quite on the low radar is Esther Kahumbi.
Esther Kahumbi is a Kenyan journalist reporting for BBC Swahili programs, and she is currently based in London.
Before moving on to become a BBC reporter, she had worked for Citizen TV (Kenya) as a reporter and was liked by many Kenyans for her brilliant work and display during her time there.
She, however, left the Citizen role and got employed by BBC in October 2016, and it’s where she is currently situated.
According to her public profile, she was born on 8 September 1994 in Kenya, making her 31 years of age at the moment.
The majority of her BBC role focuses mainly on covering journalism about East African topics and Swahili-language broadcasting, something that she is well acquainted with.
She appears connected with the Swahili TV show Dira ya Dunia (host or reporter) within BBC.
Not much is known about her; however, one of the biggest moments in her life was her wedding to fellow journalist Ben Makori.
The wedding took place in December 2015 at Fuschia Gardens, Limuru, Kenya, and was attended by friends, family, and even fellow workers.
She remains listed as one of the top Kenyan news reporters in the international scene, despite few actually knowing her.
