Rosemary Odinga, the eldest daughter of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has attracted attention after making a rare public appearance alongside her mother Ida Odinga.
Rosemary was spotted at Capitol Hill in Nairobi on Thursday September 17 during the unveiling of a national steering committee tasked with coordinating activities to mark one year since the death of her father.
She appeared in a smart tan suit that gave her a polished and sophisticated look. Rosemary completed the outfit with a simple pendant and kept her overall appearance elegant and understated.
Her appearance stood out because she has largely maintained a low profile away from the public spotlight compared with some members of the Odinga family.
The occasion brought together several people involved in preparations for the first anniversary of Raila Odingas death. Among those present was nominated Senator Crystal Asige who confirmed that she had joined the national steering committee.
The committee is chaired by Professor Adams Oloo while Rarieda Member of Parliament Otiende Amollo serves as deputy chairperson. It brings together representatives from the Odinga family as well as government political institutions civil society academia and the private sector.
Ida Odinga said the commemorations will provide Kenyans with an opportunity to remember and celebrate the life of her late husband. The main programme is expected to run from October 10 to October 17.
She said the celebrations would focus on Railas life and the different aspects of his personality including his love for music sports public debate and interaction with ordinary people.
The rare appearance by Rosemary quickly drew attention online with some people commenting on her composed appearance and elegant choice of outfit.
The Odinga family has continued to prepare for the first anniversary while encouraging Kenyans from different backgrounds to take part in remembering Railas life and public contribution.
The full programme of activities is expected to be released by the steering committee as preparations continue.
