Peter Nyongo

The younger brother of Hollywood star Lupita Nyong’o, Peter Nyong’o tied the note with his longtime girlfriend Wanja Wahoro at a private ceremony held at Zereniti House, in Limuru on July 30. The Kisumu governor’s son and his wife took their social media platforms to shout to the world that they were finally a couple.

“I will walk for miles to water your roots every single day until you are too tall and impossible for anyone to ignore. My strong steadfast Acacia. Ineffable in stature and beauty. The shade of your branches will always be my refuge,” wrote Junior Nyong’o.

Wanja Wohoro is a songwriter, guitarist, performer, abstract painter and writer from Nairobi Kenya and Sydney, Australia.

Her focus is intimate storytelling with all mediums of her artistic work investigating identity, home, relationships, love and folklore within the feminine and Black/African experience.

In 2019 she released her debut album Matriarch which is a 9 track ode to coming of age, finding home and the complexities of youth.

She pursued a Music and Sociology degree after she had recorded an EP in 2013. The response from the EP “High Tide” is what gave her the confidence to study music with the view of advancing her professional career. The degree focused more on performance and musicology. This seems to have paid off well because from the beginning, Wanja became a hit and her music career keeps going higher and higher.

Since then she has continued to record, collaborate and perform around the world. In 2021 she launched the ‘Black Glitter Newsletter’ which is a resource newsletter with tips and insights to navigating the independent music industry as a young musician.
