Judith Uburu

Judith Oburu, the youngest wife of ODM party leader Dr Oburu Oginga, has made a rare public appearance after accompanying her husband to London, United Kingdom, where he is receiving medical attention.

Judith, who generally keeps a low profile away from the political spotlight, was seen alongside the veteran politician on Wednesday when they met Kenya’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Maurice Makoloo.

The meeting offered a rare glimpse of the private life of the ODM leader, whose family affairs have largely remained outside the glare of Kenyan politics.

Oburu is in London for medical care and consultations. His trip has attracted public attention as the veteran politician continues with his duties while undergoing treatment abroad.

The Wednesday engagement with Makoloo also demonstrated that Oburu’s London stay has not entirely kept him away from public and diplomatic interactions.

Judith’s appearance was particularly notable given her limited presence at political events and public functions. Her decision to accompany Oburu to Britain has placed her briefly in the public eye as she stands by her husband during his medical trip.

Oburu, a veteran politician and elder brother of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, took over the leadership of ODM following Raila’s death.

His London visit comes at a politically significant period for ODM, which remains a major player in Kenya’s opposition politics and is positioning itself ahead of the 2027 elections.

The appearance with Makoloo consequently brought together the personal and public dimensions of Oburu’s London stay.
