Life often takes unexpected turns, forcing people to confront difficult situations when they least expect them. For Njoroge wa Githinji, a popular breakfast presenter on Inooro TV, one of the most challenging moments in his career came in 2013 when he lost his job while his wife was four months pregnant.
Njoroge, known for his engaging presentation style and connection with his audience, has built a name for himself in Kenya’s media industry. However, his journey to success has not been without setbacks.
Before joining Inooro TV, Njoroge worked at K24, a television station owned by Mediamax Network Limited. He spent approximately eight months at the station before his employment came to an abrupt end in 2013.
In a past interview with Kikuyu Diaspora TV, the journalist openly discussed the circumstances surrounding his departure, clarifying that he had been fired rather than leaving voluntarily.
“It’s good to clear the air that I was sacked,” he recalled.
According to Njoroge, he had anticipated the development through his connections and already knew that his position was at risk. By the time the news became official, he had mentally prepared himself for the possibility of losing his job.
However, knowing what was coming did not make the situation any easier. The fact that his wife was four months pregnant added another layer of uncertainty, as he faced the responsibility of providing for his growing family without a stable source of income.
After losing his job, Njoroge found himself at Fig Tree in Ngara, Nairobi, reflecting on what the future held for him.
“I sat at Fig Tree, Ngara, wondering what would be my next move. I was wondering what kind of life lay ahead of me,” he revealed.
The experience marked a difficult chapter in his life, forcing him to reconsider his next steps at a time when his family needed stability.
Despite the setback, Njoroge continued pursuing opportunities in the media industry. His subsequent career saw him become a familiar voice and face among Kikuyu-speaking audiences through his work at Inooro TV.
His story highlights the uncertainty that can accompany a career in broadcasting and the determination required to navigate professional setbacks while shouldering family responsibilities.
