An emotional moment unfolded during a police press briefing on Thursday morning as one officer, clearly shaken, condemned the role of politicians in fueling chaos during the ongoing Gen Z-led protests across the country.
The officer, whose name was withheld for security reasons, tearfully spoke out about the pain and suffering both citizens and police officers are enduring due to political incitement.
“Yesterday, I witnessed so many innocent Kenyans injured, some even shot dead. I also saw my fellow officers badly wounded. It broke me,” he said as tears streamed down his face.
“If I was given a chance to make a wish, I would wish for thunder to strike all the politicians in this country, so we can finally have peace and a safe Kenya.”
The officer lamented that while ordinary citizens clash with the police on the frontlines, the politicians responsible for stirring up emotions remain untouched in their secure offices and homes.
“They speak and disappear, but we are the ones left to deal with the aftermath – blood, pain, and death,” he said.
His powerful and emotional statement has since gone viral on social media, resonating with many Kenyans who feel frustrated with the continued cycle of political manipulation, police brutality, and citizen suffering.
Kenyans from all walks of life have called for accountability, dialogue, and a return to peace. The officer’s raw plea serves as a wake-up call.
that behind the uniform is a human being equally broken by the violence, and that real change must begin with ending political incitement and putting the lives of Kenyans first.
