The former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiangi has finally opened up to the fact that he consulted the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga when he wanted to become Kenya’s President after Uhuru Kenyatta.

In his tribute, the former CS has stated that the Late Raila Odinga is a leader he respected and even described him as a true patriot, a mentor who was never bitter even with his political rivals.

In his statement while speaking at a local media station, Matiangi opened up to the fact that he had wanted to continue with the legacy of the former President and thought that the only way he would continue with the work of the previous administration was when he contests for election as President.

Before embarking on the move, Matiangi stated that he decided to consult the former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, who gave him advise on his Presidential ambition.

According to Matiangi, the Late Raila Odinga convinced him that by then he was not ready, and he knew that there was no way he could balance between politics and his work as a public servant.

”I had a discussion with him and he said I was not ready. By then I could not split between my work as the then Cabinet Secretary and also do my campaigns. And I must agree that he convinced me,” stated the former Interior Cabinet Secretary.

The former CS has also sent his condolence message to the family of the late Raila Odinga, stating that the legacy of the late Raila Odinga will continue living.
